Tonkatsu Sauce
Tonkatsu sauce is a thick, spicy, and slightly sweet Japanese sauce that is often referred to as “Japanese ketchup” and is traditionally served with breaded and fried pork (tonkatsu), but also goes well with other fried dishes, croquettes, or as a dip. It is inspired by Worcestershire sauce, but combines fruity and vegetable flavors such as tomatoes, apples, onions, carrots, and spices to create an umami-rich seasoning.
Use:
Classic: Drizzled over tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet).
Versatile: As a dip for sushi, tempura, croquettes, or as a seasoning for wok dishes and sandwiches.
